As you can guess by the title, the weather is still dyer in the Peak District. We enjoyed some lovely weather for a while, with days out on the Moors and in the shaded Dales. But that heat wave seems to have come to an abrupt end.

It now may be wet, but the temperatures are more often than not feeling very wintery, and therefore the weekend before last I headed to Burbage South with Pete and Mike, for a bit more grit, and had a really good day, being most likely the luckiest climbers in the Peak. First I flashed Masters of the Universe (E6/7 6b), which climbs boldly up the striking hanging arete of the Cioch block after abbing in to the bottom. It is both different and climbs fantastically. I was chuffed to flash this as I had had my eye on it a while, and new I had it in me. I then went on to get the ultra classic Offspring (E5 6b), after first taking the swing made famous in Stone Monkey. It was all done between showers, quite literally. I love days like this, you feel like the day is going to be wasted, but you head out anyway. Somehow you climb everything you want, and then it rains 5 minutes after you top out, and as you sit sipping tea in Outside.
